Green Legacy

Transforming 5,000 acres of underutilised land in Sindh, Pakistan into a thriving, revenue-generating forest ecosystem.

This project is currently in the planning and development phase. Details presented reflect the proposed scope and methodology.

Project Overview

Pollen Hub is leading a 5,000-acre afforestation initiative in Sindh, Pakistan — transforming barren, underutilised land into a productive forest ecosystem. The project generates value through three diversified streams — timber, industrial wood, and verified carbon credits — while creating lasting community impact and environmental legacy.

This is not a conventional reforestation effort. It is a structured, multi-decade programme underpinned by rigorous financial planning, IPCC-compliant carbon science, and sustainable development principles.

This project demonstrates the practical application of Pollen Hub's Environmental & Sustainability consulting capabilities. Learn more about our ESG consulting services.

The Challenge

Underutilised Land

Sindh has vast arable land that remains idle, with enormous untapped potential. Thousands of acres lie barren, producing no economic value for their owners.

Carbon: An Untapped Asset

Pakistan’s forests can generate verified carbon credits — a globally growing market that remains virtually untouched locally.

Underdeveloped Communities

Rural communities near these lands lack employment, infrastructure, and sustainable livelihood opportunities.

“What if we could address all of this — just by planting trees?”

Land Transformation

Transform barren land into productive, revenue-generating ecosystems.

Community Uplift

Create hundreds of local jobs and uplift rural communities.

Carbon Sequestration

Sequester thousands of tonnes of CO₂ and earn verified carbon credits.

Long-Term Value

Generate diversified income streams spanning decades.

Three Revenue Streams

01

Timber

High-value hardwood managed through long-term rotation cycles for sustained capital growth.

02

Industrial Wood

Recurring harvests on short rotation cycles, providing consistent periodic income.

03

Carbon Credits

Verra-verified credits generated over a 40-year crediting period through measurable carbon sequestration.

How Carbon Credits Work

01

Trees Planted & Grow

Seedlings established across designated blocks.

02

CO₂ Absorbed & Stored

Trees absorb carbon dioxide through photosynthesis, storing it as biomass.

03

Growth Measured

GIS mapping and field measurements track biomass accumulation.

04

Verified by Verra

Independent Validation and Verification Body (VVB) audits the data.

05

Credits Issued & Sold

Verified carbon credits are registered and sold on global voluntary markets.

We use internationally recognised allometric equations with IPCC Tier-2 parameters to model carbon sequestration. Our team manages GIS field operations, verification workflows, and Verra's ARR (Afforestation, Reforestation, and Revegetation) methodology — ensuring every credit is scientifically robust and audit-ready.

Land Allocation Strategy

Block A — Timber (40%)

Long-term rotation with periodic thinning harvests.

Block B — Industrial Wood (40%)

Short-cycle harvests with replanting after each cut.

Block C — Carbon Credits (20%)

Dedicated to long-term carbon sequestration with no final harvest.

Project Timeline

1

Establishment

Year 0

5

Recurring Revenue

Year 10+

Recurring harvests, timber thinning, carbon credit revenue grows

Community Impact

A developed community is not just the right thing to do — it directly increases carbon credit value.

Employment

Watchmen, forest guards, foresters, nursery workers, and seasonal labour across 5,000 acres.

Infrastructure

Access roads, water systems, and basic facilities that benefit surrounding villages.

Biodiversity

Native species buffers, wildlife corridors, and ecosystem services that improve quality of life.

Higher Credit Prices

Projects with strong co-benefits (SDG alignment) command premium pricing on voluntary carbon markets.

Why Pollen Hub

Carbon Science Expertise

IPCC-compliant biomass modelling using species-specific allometric equations, wood density data, and root-to-shoot ratios.

End-to-End Project Management

From PDD authoring to VVB validation and Verra registry — we manage the entire carbon credit lifecycle.

On-the-Ground Operations

Full field team including GIS coordinators, community development officers, foresters, and wildlife specialists.

صدقة جاريةSadaqah Jariyah — Continuous Charity

“If a Muslim plants a tree or sows seeds, and then a bird, or a person, or an animal eats from it, it is regarded as a charitable gift (Sadaqah) for him.”

— Sahih al-Bukhari 2320

Every tree planted is a continuous act of charity — Sadaqah Jariyah — that outlives us, benefits generations, and earns reward for the one who makes it possible.

“If the Hour (the Day of Judgment) begins while one of you has a palm shoot in his hand, and he is able to plant it before the Hour is established, then let him plant it.”

— Musnad Ahmad (numbering varies by edition; commonly cited as 12902) / also narrated in Al-Adab Al-Mufrad

This profound hadith reminds us that the act of planting — of investing in the earth and in the future — carries immense virtue, even in the most final of moments. It is a call to purposeful action, no matter the circumstance.
